Bueno… finalizamos el ciclo 2010 y fue con todo éxito! Aún no sabemos los resultados, pero lo importante es que fue un placer trabajar con Valeria y Josefina, dos profesionales excelentes con quienes fue fácil llevar a cabo el desarrollo de los exámenes, teniendo en cuenta que eran 50 alumnos en total - la lluvia torrencial complicó bastante las cosas, pero las dos examinadoras siempre con una actitud positiva y receptiva llevaron adelante la tarea con sonrisas, buena disposición y amabilidad. I am very happy because I passed my first Anglia Ascentis Exam at Elementary level last December. I learnt English at secondary school but I really wanted to improve and learn more. The oral examiner created a friendly and comfortable atmosphere which made me feel more relaxed.

Hasta hace 3 años la medición real de los aprendizajes del nivel de inglés de nuestros alumnos era ambigua. Esto cambió radicalmente con la firma del convenio que permitía a CICEX convertirse en un centro examinador autorizado del Anglia Ascentis ESOL Examinations. Ahora podemos decir que no solamente nuestros programas están correlacionados con estándares internacionales, como el CEF (Common European Framework), sino también el nivel de inglés de nuestros profesores y alumnos puede ser medido y corroborado con total confiabilidad.

Personalmente, tomar los exámenes, primero el C.I.T.E General Training y posteriormente, el Masters Level, me permitió medir mis conocimientos de enseñanza del idioma y también conocer mi nivel real de inglés.

I’m an Anglia Ascentis Local Agent for a large part of the province of Chubut, south of Argentina. I’ve been promoting Anglia Exams under the tutelage of Chris Kunz and Monica Blanco-Kunz for the past ten years. For the first two/ three years, we were only few teachers enrolling a small number of students for the exams, but soon afterwards and since then, we’ve been growing steadily and numbers have been in constant increase. We have more and more teachers and students every year who are proud of and greatly satisfied with the results. Some students have also travelled to Chichester for the UK-based courses and have expressed great joy about it.

As a Local Agent, I’m very happy to have chosen Anglia Ascentis ESOL Examinations. I took the C.I.T.E Young Learners exam last year and I am now preparing for the C.I.T.E General Training exam since I have been teaching English for 8 years now, but I have never had the chance to get an International Teaching Qualification. I am more confident now and I honestly believe that we, teachers, must stay up-do-date to offer our students the best.

Anglia Ascentis international exams offered my students a challenging opportunity to be tested within a more objective and external context. This gave me and them a true sense of achievement after passing all the tests at the different levels they had sat for. The adoption of Anglia exams was a great new experience because it showed me if I was doing things well and it guided my teaching practice towards the demands of an international examination board. Due to our Local Representatives, Mr. Kunz and his wife, we felt at ease from the very beginning after receiving the results of the oral "mock exams". This was very useful as I received the necessary "feedback" to reconsider my work and make the changes that were suggested. It was a very nice and rewarding experience for me on the whole.

Colombia News

Promotion continues to make ANGLIA ASCENTIS ESOL EXAMINATIONS known in Colombia.

In addition to a strong advertising campaign in Colombia, we have carried out the following activities:

• For the first time in July 2010, 31 colombian university professors took the ANGLIA ASCENTIS Exam (Accept Proficiency) CEFR Level C1. The exam was sat at the Universidad La Gran Colombia, the university appointed by ANGLIA ASCENTIS to administer its English exams in Colombia.

• Two seminars about Bilingualism: sponsored by ANGLIA ASCENTIS and with the collaboration of the ANGLOPUBLISHING HOUSE took place in Bogota. The speaker was the British Professor Fitz Roy Kennedy; teachers of English from more than 30 schools attended the meetings.

• We continue promoting the upcoming ANGLIA ASCENTIS exams to be held in Bogota next October.

It’s been a really great experience. For many years, as an English coordinator and as our English teaching has reached a really high level, I’ve trying to get an official certificate for my students. Even though this year most of them had the opportunity, I think for this 2011 more parents will want for them to get their degree. Este año 2010 ha sido nuestra primera experiencia como institución educativa donde Anglia ha evaluado a nuestros alumnos. Desde un principio, como docente y coordinadora del instituto, tuve una fluida comunicación y apoyo de parte de todo el equipo, desde la oficina hasta los representantes.

Con respecto a los exámenes en sí, he podido cumplimentar con cada uno de los conceptos y niveles requeridos y los alumnos se han sentido muy cómodos y contenidos ya sea en los mock exams como en los final exams. Esto ha sido una gran y rica experiencia no sólo para el colegio sino también para crecer aún más como docente.

Por ésto y más, espero poder continuar con el proyecto durante este nuevo ciclo lectivo que comienza.

Equipo de Anglia Ascentis:

El Instituto de Inglés "The Classroom", es centro adscripto a los exámenes internacionales de Anglia Ascentis desde hace cuatro años. Aquí en Orán es el único instituto que prepara alumnos para estos exámenes. La experiencia es muy buena, dado que los profesores que vienen a tomarlos, son personas sensatas y flexibles en el sentido que "evalúan" al alumno como persona, y no como un número más. Los alumnos se sienten cómodos y relajados con los profesores; teniendo en cuenta que no los conocen. Si bien, es difícil año a año convocar los candidatos, hay alumnos que ya vienen rindiendo los niveles correspondientes desde hace cuatro años.

Para terminar, queríamos con mi equipo de docentes agradecer a Chris Kunz, por su profesionalismo y comprensión con algunos pequeños percances que normalmente suceden durante los exámenes.

Desde el año 2003 somos agente de Anglia Ascentis ESOL Examinations en Esquel, provincia del Chubut.

Desde esa fecha hasta la actualidad hemos notado un crecimiento regular de entre un 20% a un 25% anual en el número de inscriptos para los exámenes, lo cual representa un crecimiento cercano al 300% desde nuestros inicios.

Esto nos hace pensar que la aceptación por parte de padres y alumnos es cada vez mayor, por lo cual estamos en el camino correcto.

My name is Clarisa Olivero and I am a teacher and coordinator of English Language Institute which is located in Noetinger, province of Córdoba. In my opinion, the experience as a teacher and as a coordinator of the institute as regards Anglia Ascentis ESOL Examinations is unforgettable. Everyone enjoyed and celebrated the fact that they can sit for international exams without moving from their own hometown; they really valued this.

As a teacher, I think Anglia offers the opportunity to have an international certificate at least every year if the candidate wants to. They don't have to prepare themselves for two years, for example, to sit for one. They can feel they can achieve their personal goal just the same year they decide to take it. In addition, we, teachers, can use any material that suits our students' needs and that motivates them (so important!!!).

First of all, I want to thank you very much for giving me the opportunity of offering my students an exam which gives them international recognition. I continuously feel supported by all the information I get on line as well as the early answers I get from Buenos Aires whenever I have any queries, and that is really great!

As regards my students, I have to say that they loved sitting for the exam in Miramar as they had really nice experiences and both years we were so warmly welcomed that they wish to have the same experience next year.

Soy Sandra, teacher de The Oyster Institute en Capitán Sarmiento (B A). El 10 de diciembre tuvimos los exámenes finales Anglia Ascentis en nuestro propio instituto por primera vez ya que en años anteriores se habían realizado en una escuela de mi localidad. La experiencia fue muy linda, tanto mis alumnos como yo nos sentimos muy cómodos y la examinadora, Prof. Sabrina Stehling, nos pareció muy simpática y profesional. La experiencia me parece positiva! A pesar de las dificultades económicas que atraviesa el país, el numero de candidatos se mantiene y los más chiquitos se están animando a participar.
