General English Course
The aims of the English language courses are:
• To create a stimulating environment for you to develop and enhance your English language skills.
• To provide a range of study facilities to ensure your language, social and academic needs are met.
• To give you an effective foundation to enable you to go on to further studies at college or university.
Important things to know
• On arrival at the College everyone takes a placement test.
• We run classes at all levels of English from beginner to proficiency.
• Our courses are designed to develop all your language skills but principally to encourage communication skills.
• Teachers use a wide range of resources to promote learning in an enjoyable way, incorporating students’ individual learning styles.
• You will follow a specific course book and be given written homework to maximise learning.
• Students are encouraged to use the Open Access computing centre and language laboratory.
• A wide range of activities is organised to develop your experience of the English way of life.
• Progress tests are given on a regular basis to check learning and to identify when it’s time to move to the next class.
Examination Courses
We offer a range of international language examinations and are a registered centre for a number of exam boards.
It is possible to study for Anglia or Cambridge exams as part of your General English course as well as taking intensive exam preparation as part of your English Extra courses.
As the home of Anglia Examination Syndicate, Chichester College is the ideal place to study for an Anglia exam. Anglia Examinations are available at the College in General and Business English four times a year.
English Extra
This course offers you the chance to learn new skills in the afternoon and to further develop you English ability or to practise your language in a practical environment. Choose one option for an extra five hours a week or two options for an extra ten hours of tuition a week.

Summer School
We offer summer course designed to develop all your language skills and to encourage effective and accurate communication. Summer School is a 25 hours per week programme, in the mornings you will develop your English language ability in graded English language classes and in the afternoon you will learn new skills and put your language into practice through a wide range of options.
Every Saturday we organise study visits to centres of historic and cultural significance such as Bath, Oxford, London, Salisbury, Brighton and Windsor.
We also have an active programme of social events which can include visits to the theatre, musical events, sporting venues, barbecues, quizzes and karaoke nights.
