Placement Test
Anglia Ascentis ESOL Examinations has two placement tests available for you to use as a tool to find the most appropriate entry point for your students. One is a downloadable paper placement test, which you are free to copy and use individually or as class sets. The other is an online placement test, which can be used by as many students at once as you have computers.
The paper placement test requires manual marking by the teacher or student and has the advantage of a writing section which incorporates the teacher's professional judgement into the multiple choice score. The online placement test marks itself and gives the student taking it an instant result and suggested entry point. It consists entirely of multiple choice questions.
Downloadable Paper Placement Test
English is the most widely used and recognised language in the Western world. The ability to communicate in this language is therefore essential as it can provide the gateway to many careers and opportunities. The Anglia Ascentis ESOL Examinations offers a comprehensive and structured programme of assessing English language competence, which students undertake at their own pace, guided by their teachers.
Once you have taken the Placement Test you will need to see how well you have scored. Use the answer sheet below to work out how many questions you got right, then look on the mark scheme to see which level of exam is most suitable for you.
